This past Monday Ward 4 Councilmember Muriel Bowser hosted an exciting walkthrough with about 30 residents and businesses along the Kennedy Street corridor from North Capitol Street to Georgia Avenue. Kennedy Street has been undergoing a rebirth of activity due to a Small Area Plan developed by the community, funding available for streetscaping including $3million which Councilmember Bowser secured in the FY 2014 city budget, and the overall commitment from the residents and businesses. The walkthrough focused on turning the vacant properties into viable uses that will attract customers and improve the area for all. Residents also learned more about grants and technical assistance available from the city, eliminating the used car and tire lots and other items of interest.
