Community partnership commits $30,000 to affordable housing in Montgomery & Prince George’s Counties
Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland (HFHMM) met with representatives from DARCARS to commemorate their company partnership, a partnership that will help make decent and affordable housing a reality for hard working, low-income families in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.
As an important supporter and financial partner, DARCARS has played an essential role in HFHMM’s ability to provide affordable housing opportunities to families in need of a hand up and not a handout. In 2016 alone, DARCARS will sponsor and participate in five team builds where they will help to rehabilitate the homes of four families in Prince Georges’ County. This year DARCARS is also supporting HFHMM’s “National Women Build Week”, a week dedicated to educating and empowering women to build and repair homes for low-income families in their community. Additionally, DARCARS will provide financial support for HFHMM’s annual fundraisers, allowing HFHMM to expand its reach and assist more families in need. On April 27th as a part of National Women Build Week, a group of 14 members of the DARCARS team gathered at one of HFHMM’s four current rehabilitation properties to help work on the home.
“DARCARS is a great partner of Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland,” said John Paukstis, Executive Director of HFHMM. “Last year, they brought a team of employees out to one of our build sites and the amount of work they were able to accomplish in one day was amazing. We are delighted with DARCARS significant financial and volunteer commitment for 2016 towards making decent and affordable housing a reality in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.
“DARCARS is committed to giving back to the communities where we operate and we are pleased to continue our partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Maryland,” said John Darvish, DARCARS Chief Executive Officer. “Safe and affordable housing is at the core of building and maintaining strong communities. DARCARS is pleased to be able to offer resources and volunteers to support Habitat for Humanity’s work, which provides homeownership solutions for families in need in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.”
HFHMM’s mission is to provide affordable housing solutions to low-income families living or working in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties. HFHMM is only able to complete its mission through the generosity of local partners such as DARCARS.
