WILD ABOUT PRIMATES!

What’s a primate you ask? Well, humans are primates, but here at the Zoo the non-human primates you can learn about are the chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, and the lemurs on Lemur Lane – ring-tailed, red-ruffed and sifaka! Learn about how important zoos are in helping these endangered species, as well as see enrichment demos, ask the keepers questions and participate in themed activities.

QUE at the ZOO is the first ever Bands and BBQ festival at the Zoo! Join us for outstanding musical acts and the tastiest BBQ in Baltimore. Attendees can purchase a “Judge’s Ticket” allowing them to sample plates from each contestant, and giving them the ability to vote on Baltimore’s top ribs, pulled pork and chicken All ages welcome and proceeds from this event benefit the Maryland Zoo and Believe in Music.
BALTIMORE GAMER SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA’S MUSICAL PETTING ZOO

Join the Baltimore Gamer Symphony Orchestra (http://baltimoregso.org) for a musical “petting zoo” chock full of musical instruments that help them recreate all that cool video game music! Kids can see, touch and play a variety of instruments in this “zoo,” as well as chat with BSGO musicians. The Gamers will be playing orchestral renditions video game music throughout the day.

Bring the whole family out to see some really big trucks! Guests will be able to tour a variety of big vehicles like a cement mixer, cherry picker, a bus, backhoe and more! The first 800 children will get a construction hat upon entry.

Rhino species are facing the threat of extinction and this international day was created in efforts to keep five rhino species forever! This themed day at the Zoo is filled with educational rhino fun where guests can attend keeper chats, ask the keepers themselves questions and participate in raffles and activities.

The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore celebrates its’ legacy as the third oldest zoo in America with Zoobilee 140 – a signature anniversary event presented by Stifel. Join all the party animals at the Zoo under the stars at Penguin Coast for an unforgettable evening featuring live and silent auctions, extraordinary cuisine, beer and wine, music and dancing, in a uniquely zoo environment. Tickets are $100 per person and are on sale at www.marylandzoo.org. This one-of-a-kind event will benefit The Maryland Zoo’s conservation efforts, educational programs and zoo operations.

The kids are out of school, so why don’t you bring them to The Zoo! Various animals will receive special Election Day-themed treats Visit with the Zookeepers and volunteers who help create these great treats and who will be explain the importance of enrichment activities.
