The District of Columbia Public Service Commission recently approved the Standard Offer Service (SOS) rates that resulted in a decrease on the supply portion of a Pepco District Of Columbia customer’s bill. On June 1, 2017, the new SOS supply rates resulted in a total annual bill decrease of 1.3 percent for Pepco District of Columbia SOS residential customers.
For a typical residential customer who uses 659 kilowatt hours per month, the new rate will result in a summer bill savings of $2.40 per month and an annual bill savings of $1.10 per month, decreasing the overall bill from $82.39 to $81.29.
By June 1, Pepco energy supply rates will be the lowest amount since 2011 for residential customers who buy their electricity through the SOS program. Because of this new rate, the typical Pepco customer will pay about $12 less per month for their energy supply compared to the same time six years ago. Lower wholesale power prices, driven by lower natural gas prices are resulting in electricity savings for Pepco District Of Columbia residential SOS customers.
Customers who receive their energy supply from an alternative or third-party energy provider will not be affected by this rate change.
