In 2015, the scholarship opportunity was made available to all qualifying students from diverse communities throughout the State of Maryland, not only Latinos. By 2018, the Gala had become Maryland’s Marquee Hispanic Gala, thus, Maryland Hispanic Gala.

“After years of dedicated efforts to expand opportunities for students across Montgomery County and the state, I am thrilled to see the Gala’s transformation to the Maryland Hispanic Gala,” said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz . “These are exactly the steps we need to take to embrace our state’s growing diversity and support the future of Maryland’s Hispanic communities.”
“Like a magnificent colorful butterfly, the Montgomery County Hispanic Gala is transforming into the Maryland Hispanic Gala. For years the Gala has been providing scholarships to talented and deserving students in need of financial support to assist them in reaching their full potential. Thanks to the efforts of the organizing committee, its leadership and the dedicated supporters of the Gala, students across the state will continue to be the beneficiaries of the Gala’s efforts and experience the opportunity to achieve their dreams,” said Maryland State Delegate Benjamin F.
